Skin Care

Hey Everybody,

Today I decided to share with you my favorite skin care products for oily skin types. I have very oily acne prone skin, but recently I went to the dermatologist and I am now on Accutane which is starting to dry my skin out. So I am now having to change all my products, but I wanted to tell y'all about these wonderful products.

So starting off with Makeup Removers I like to use makeup wipes, I think they work well, cheap, and you can get them almost anywhere. I know a lot of people like  to use a cleansing oil, but I find them hard to come by and they are pretty pricey. Also I don't know about you, but with already being oily, I don't want to rub an oil all over my face.  So I just stick with the normal makeup cleansing towlettes. My favorite are the Clean & Clear Night Relaxing all-in-one wipes. These wipes are very gentle but get all of your makeup off. They smell nice and are also Oil-Free. If you are oily try to use products that are Oil-Free.

Next would be cleansers, the most important part of your skin care routine. I have two favorite cleansers first being the Purity Facial Cleansing Gel by Philosophy. Philosophy has two Purity face cleansers one being gel and the other a cream. I prefer the gel one since it is targeted for oily skin. It removes dirt, oil, impurities, and ALL of your makeup even eye makeup. My other favorite cleanser would be the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser. It is also a gel and does all the same things as the Purity cleanser and it is also affordable. The only reason I like the Purity better is because it gets off my eye makeup better and it doesn't irritate my eyes.

Then I always go in with a toner. A toner is really important, what it does it is go deep into your pores and really clear them out preventing any breakouts. My all time favorite toner is from Clinique and it is the Clinique Clarifying Lotion for combo/oily skin. It is a non-drying formula that helps clear your skin and refine your pores. All you do is pour some on a cotton pad and swipe all over the face, no rinse after. I have been using this product for around 2 years and I have never had any problems. When I tried to change toners my skin was not the same after I stopped using this. I started breaking out more and was more oily. Then I started using it again about 2 months later and everything cleared up and was SO much better. This is my Holy Grail. Another product that would be good and also affordable would be an oil free astringent. They come in all brands (sea breeze, equate, etc.), I always just get the generic, and they all work the same. They might be a little bit harsher on the skin but they are the best in the drugstore.

Lastly is moisturizing, even though you have oily skin does not mean you do not have to moisturize. Moisturizing is the very important, if you don't moisturize your skin can age faster and you are actually making your face more oily. If you don't moisturize you skin will try to make up for the lack of moisture by creating oil which will make you an oily skin type. So moisturize morning and night at least. My favorites are Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Moisturizer, Clean & Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel, and the Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Gel Moisturizer. Gel moisturizers are made for more oily skin types since they are made with no oil, all my favorites are oil-free. The Morning Burst Hydrating gel is for under makeup, it is very light weight but hydrating. The Advantage Acne control is for people with acne, it has Salicylic acid which is a acne fighting ingredient. The Take a Deep Breath can be morning or night. It is a lot like the Morning Burst Hydrating gel, but it is more moisturizing in my opinion.

An extra thing you might enjoy is a face mask. I like to do a mask every few days. A mask I really like is the Freeman Facial Clay Mask in Mint & Lemon. This mask is made for oily skin types. It helps clear breakout and minimizes the appearance of pores. The clay absorbs the oil on face and the lemon helps with the inflammation caused by breakouts.

So that is all everybody, I hoped you enjoyed my blog. If you have any questions leave them down below. I hope you guys have a wonderful day and I hope to see you back. <3 RR

Hello Everybody,

Since this is my first blog on my journey on Accutane, I am going to start with all of the basics on how to go about getting on Accutane, all the things to prepare for while on Accutane, and my personal journey so far. Warning: Very Descriptive

Starting with how to get on Accutane. All dermatologist will be different my dermatologist wanted to start me out on Accutane as soon as possible. I tend to have cystic acne which can leave to permanent scarring, so my doctor wanted to treat it asap. So from day 1 of meeting my doctor I was on the path to getting Accutane. To get on Accutane is a 30 day wait if you are a female. (Since I am a female I do not know the steps of getting on Accutane if you are a male, my knowledge is for females only.) The reason is takes 30 days is because you have to be on birth control for a month before you can be prescribed Accutane. The reason is you can NOT get pregnant while on Accutane. Accutane is a very strong drug that can deform the baby. If you do get pregnant while on the drug you stop taking the medicine asap and you will be encouraged to have an abortion, since the odds of it surviving is very slim. So once your doctor thinks Accutane is for you, you will have to take a pregnancy test every month and a blood test every couple of months (depending on what your doctor wants). Also every month you will have to sign in to iPledge.com and take a test. The test focuses on your knowledge of birth control, which they will give you a very descriptive booklet at the doctors of all the birth control types. Once you 30 days is up and you are ready to get your prescription you will be prescribed a generic version of Accutane since there is no drug actually called Accutane. I personally got prescribed Absorica which is the most popular since you do not have to take the drug with a fatty meal. Also your weight will determine how much your dose is and how long you stay on the drug. I take 80 mg/day, so I take a 40 mg pill in the morning and a 40 mg pill at night. If you were to start out at 60 mg/day you would take a 20 mg pill in the morning and a 40 mg pill at night. Most people stay on Accutane for 8 months, but you can stop at anytime. If you do choose to stop before the 8 months, the results will not be as good and your acne can come back.

Things to prepare for while taking Accutane and the most common side effects for both male and female.
The main thing to prepare for is dry skin. What Accutane does is close all of your oil glands so your pores don't get clogged with oil. So since your skin is no longer producing oil, your skin drys out like nobody's business. I have been taking Accutane for 8 days now and I am already having dry skin, which I am normally really oily. The only thing to help with the dryness is to moisturize. Your doctor with give you suggestions and some samples. I do plan on having a whole blog post on all the product I use and the most popular for Accutane patients. Also your first month you will breakout more than you normally would. I have never broken out that bad but like I said it is just the initial start of the medication that will freak your skin out and cause a giant breakout, and you cannot use any kind of acne treatment or any harsh products including scrubs.Since your skin will get extremely sensitive you have to use sunscreen everyday, if you do get sunburned it will last 3 times as long as it normally would. Also you can NOT wax or it will rip off your skin. Owwww. You will also scar easier so try not to pick at your acne. Another side effect is dry/chapped lips. OMG I started having dry lips my 4th day on Accutane and it is not fun at all. It is bearable but no matter how much chap-stick you put on nothing helps. You literally have to carry a lip balm with you 24/7, personally I have to reapply every hour if not more. Another common side effect is depression. But almost every medication you take has the chances of getting depressed. Also the see more of the depression side effect in teenagers and more anger problems in male patients. But for depression all the doctors do is tell you to have your friends, family, or whoever you hang with the most watch you and to inform them if they do see a change in behavior. The last side effect I am going to talk about is back aches. It is common to get more lower back pain, but not everyone will. Some get back pain in the first month of being on Accutane, but most patients get it around 6-8 months of taking the medication.

That is all I am going to ramble about today. But I will have several more blogs on Accutane and my journey with it. If you have any questions or any request just comment them down below and I will gladly answer them ASAP. I also will be doing blogs on beauty product ranging from makeup, skin care, and hair care. So you enjoy any of those subjects please don't hesitate to visit blog again. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and I hope to see you back. <3 RR
